The Doula Services I offer...
Postnatal Doula
I am an experienced companion who offers emotional support and practical household assistance to the mother and the whole family in the first few weeks after the baby is born. I can offer flexible hours to suit your needs and will take care of the mother postnatally so that she is best able to care for her newborn and her family.
I will:
- Support you in whatever feeding method you choose
- Facilitate rest periods for Mum
- Provide a sounding board for ideas and encourage you to make the decisions that work best for you
- Have fun with and take care of older siblings and try to help them to adjust to the presence of a new baby
- Do light household duties – such as (but not exclusively) laundry, grocery shopping, preparing food/cooking, cleaning, pet care and any other reasonable requests
My hourly rate for postnatal doula work is $25 NZD – I tally the agreed hours up and invoice on a monthly basis. The invoice can be paid by cash, cheque or electronic payment. This hourly rate includes my travelling costs to/from your home if you are within a 15km radius of Wellington. If you are further afield, I will discuss with you an appropriate charge for the first hour of work which will cover my travel costs. I work for a minimum of 3 hours as I have found that any less inhibits the amount of support I can offer and no sooner have I arrived than I am leaving again!
Birth Doula
Although I did work as a birth doula whilst I lived in London, due to my other current commitments and a lack of back-up doula support in the local area, I am unable to offer birth support at this time here in Wellington, but I hope to be able to do this in the future.
